Walking Distance

The Pineapple Court Hotel is ideally placed to be able to explore a key part of Ocho Rios on foot. Mahogany Beach is the prettiest and closest destination on foot, 8-10 minutes’ walk from the hotel. It is a lovely sheltered cove with calm turquoise water, beach bar, and feels more local and relaxed than the main tourist beach. The walk is through a safe and nice locality, very convenient to have a morning swim or an afternoon by the sea.

For dining and local flavor, a number of excellent authentic restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. Soldiers Restaurant, famous for its great Jamaican food, adjacent to the hotel means that one does not need to travel far for a good meal that does not break the bank. Otherwise, the major downtown of Ocho Rios, more restaurants, craft markets as well as the Taj Mahal shopping center, is a bit further but not far– a good half hour’s walk for those who like to hike around on foot.

Although the hotel is secluded, it’s not at all isolated. Route taxies ply the main road in front of the hotel, providing a safe and inexpensive way to explore further on foot. This makes most of the town’s transport facilities easily available on foot, helping you reach out to places of interest ‘out in the boondocks’ that are just too far off to go by car.
